TNI Assistance Program is a collaboration between Trenton Neighborhood Initiative and Address Yourself that provides qualified Trenton homebuyers with grants of up to $20,000 from the Trenton Neighborhood Initiative Homebuyer Assistance Program (HAP), as well as free homeownership and financial counseling. The Afterschool Program is held Monday through Friday during the entire school year. Children that attend are provided a hot meal and have the opportunity to participate in organized STEM, Soccer and Girl Scout Programs! Isles. Inc., a local non-profit organization, collaborates with us to offer fun games and activities from their T-Rec Truck, and the children receive homework assistance and books to continue studying throughout the year.
The Food Pantry provides fresh fruits, vegetables and meat to residents and the surrounding community on a weekly basis. We help promote healthy eating by serving healthy foods at no cost to our community, including serving our seniors/disabled weekly.
Homeownership, Credit Counseling, and Financial Literacy Programs are offered throughout the year by several local partners who provide valuable information on setting financial goals and budgeting, first-time home buyers programs, understanding your credit score, techniques on saving, benefits of homeownership, receiving one on one credit counseling, and much more. These programs are beneficial in helping residents become self-sufficient.
The Health and Wellness Program is a holistic program offered to the residents of the Trenton Housing Authority! Throughout the year, presenters from various health professions continuously provide materials. Many bring complimentary products and frequently provide free vitamins, soaps, and other household items. Pharmacies, nurses, and other healthcare professionals give information on diabetes prevention and healthy cooking and shopping. Some presentations are oriented specifically toward our elderly and share information about the many services they provide at little or no cost. Monthly Healthy Lifestyle Management workshops are held on nutrition, the benefits of exercise, how to prevent chronic diseases, the health risks of smoking, and much more. Annual Health and Informational Expos are held to promote and enlighten our residents about the availability of health insurance, how to obtain free medical equipment, how to take use of the various social services accessible to residents, veteran opportunities, adult day care programs, and much more.
Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS) is a program that promotes independence, self-sufficiency and goal setting among THA residents. The program includes one on one counseling and referrals to supportive service providers. The mission of the program is to help THA residents set and achieve short- and long-term goals, one family at a time. Some of the goals set by residents include obtaining stable employment, budgeting and saving, achieving homeownership, purchase of transportation, pursuing vocational training or higher education, and much more.
